Cyber security refers to the various technologies, processes, practices, controls and procedures designed to defend and protect networks, programs, data and devices from malicious attacks, damage and unauthorised access by hostile actors and cyber criminals.

As the global cyber threat continues to evolve at a rapid pace, and with an ever increasing number of successful data breaches each year, it is vital to have robust cyber security measures in place, and alongside these measures, a documented and tested disaster recovery and business continuity plan should be in place in the unfortunate event of a cyber breach or other disaster.

There are many types of cyber threats we need to guard against, which may simply be aimed at interrupting or frustrating business processes, may be aimed at extorting money, or they may be aimed at gaining access to sensitive data or information with a view to deleting, changing or using the data or information.

There are also many ways cyber attacks occur, from downloading viruses and trojans in emails or simply by browsing a website, man in the middle interceptions caused by insecure network and internet connections, to external brute force attacks to gain access to systems.

We can help to protect you from these potential cyber attacks with anti-virus and anti-malware software solutions performing real-time scanning to protect end-user devices, securing your local network by locking down data access and encrypting network traffic, securing external network and website access with encrypted virtual private networks, and by configuring firewall rules to monitor and either allow or block specific network traffic in or out.

Effective cyber security measures are also necessary to aid in GDPR compliance to protect and secure any data you may process and hold.

In addition, we can educate your end-users to be vigilant and stay safe on-line, as this is the first line of defence.

We have experience with a number of paid and free anti-virus solutions, both cloud based and locally deployed, such as Sophos, Bitdefender and Avira, and firewall solutions such as Fortigate appliances, Draytek routers, and Sophos and Bitdefender software solutions.

Whatever your budget we will have a solution to give you the protection you need.

Further information on cyber security, and what it entails, can be found on the National Cyber Security Centre website.
